Designer looks to bring awareness to human labor trafficking Updated 3:11 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2017 Cassidy Winters is putting her own spin on local fashion trends. Debuting Saturday, Sept. 30, Winters will be showcasing her own signature line of ethical clothing during the Wildey Theatre’s annual fashion show in hopes to spread awareness of human labor trafficking. Winters said she wanted to make sure people were aware of unethical clothing and spread the word about how to make the right clothing selection. “I just really want to show people that there is an issue in the fashion industry. More importantly, show people how they can fight it and make a difference,” Winters said. Labor trafficking involves individual workers who perform labor or services through the use of force, fraud or coercion, according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. A large percentage of labor trafficking can be seen in the clothing industry. Labor trafficking can include involuntary child labor, forced labor or situations of debt bondage.
